How to wash my Ceramic Coated car

Tools & Technique

So you have a Professional Ceramic Coating and want to keep it clean the right way. First thing you need to know before we get to chemicals, is the tools you need and proper technique. If you already have tools and know how to wash a car then skip to products. You’ll need a wash mitt, buckets, wheels whollie, microfiber towels and a microfiber drying towel. Do not ever use a terry towel unless you want to scratch your car and leave lint all over it.

Biggest tip I have is never let hose water dry on the car from evaporation. This will leave water spots on the vehicle. Absorb the water off the car with the drying towel and if the sun is out rinse the car regularly when washing to keep it cool, if you have a black car i recommend doing it in the shade or hiring a professional. Next do not store your wash mitt on the floor of your garage. I see this way to often. Microfibers pick up everything and hold on to it. Your microfiber will pick up sand and rocks on the ground and rub it against you car next time you wash it. Wash you wash mitt in the washer machine after every car wash. Only wash microfibers with microfibers. No softener, bleach, heat, or powders.

The bottom of the car is the dirtiest area. So wash your car from top to bottom. So you don’t pick up dirt from the bottom and grind it across the rest. Roof first, then windows, then doors etc… I recommend using the two bucket method one rinse bucket and one soap bucket. Clean wheels with a dedicated wash mitt or microfiber towel.

And just to be safe, I will state the obvious, NO AUTOMATIC CAR WASHES EVER (unless its touchless).

Chemicals

Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions wash and wax

I love Turtle Wax Hybrid Solutions, which is like a wash and wax or more like a wash and ceramic. Hybrid Solutions Wash and Wax applies a small amount of SiO2 (the stuff ceramic is made of) to maintain your coatings hydrophobic properties and be a barrier between the elements and your expensive coating. Every time you wash your car you add to your coating making it look great and last years. You can use a regular car shampoo if you have some.

303 Touchless Sealant with SiO2

After you wash it. let us add a layer of protection. What does Touchless mean? It means all you have to do is spray it on and rinse off! It does not get easier than that. A professional Ceramic Coating lasts 3-5 years but it is always good to add another layer and revive your coating every few months that way you can get 5 years out of your coating and not 3. 303 Touchless will keep your coating hydrophobic and make it last as long as possible and with it being this easy to apply why wouldn’t you use it? This is my favorite wax for non ceramic coated cars as well. Do not use any wax that is not ceramic based.

Super Clean

A detailers secret. Super Clean is amazing for cleaning wheels, tires, bug removal, cleaning your interior, removing stains, and it’s very cheap. Dilute in a spray bottle the way it’s recommended on the gallon. We do 5 parts of water, to 1 part of Super Clean for wheels, tires, and bugs. 10-1 for interiors. Do not let Super Clean dry. After using Super Clean, you normally have to apply more wax. Super Clean will remove ordinary waxes made of polymer and carnauba. You have a professional ceramic coating which is chemical resistant and won’t be effected.

Tire Shine Car Pro Perl

Car Pro Perl is our favorite because it gives the tires a brand new look and can be diluted to not be as shiny. So your tires can look dark black. Car Pro Perl is also UV resistant and will slow down the deterioration, cracking, and fading of the side walls.

Some Extra Helpful tools

Pressure washers really speeds things up. Here is the first one I got and it lasted about 300 car washes till it fell out of my truck and was gone forever. Plus I love to use a foam cannon when washing my car.
